JANUARY EVENTS CALENDAR
November 17, 2010 – January 28, 2011 Sammamish Arts Commission to Present Pajama Party! Quilts by Ellin Larimer Sammamish, WA –The Sammamish Arts Commission will present the work of Port Ludlow, WA quilter Ellin Larimer in an exhibition that pays tribute to color, line and vibrancy. The exhibition opens November 17, 2010 and run through January 29, 2011. An Opening Reception will be held Wednesday, November 17, 2010 from 6:00-8:00pm in the Commons Gallery at Sammamish City Hall and is open to the public.
Ellin Larimer came to quilting later in life. She raised a family and ran a successful business with her husband; she earned an instrument-rated commercial pilot license. In retirement she found herself at the Coupeville Art Center and knew that she had found the next focus for her life: art quilts. She studied with Nancy Crow and Michael James among others; she began to dye fabrics and construct quilts and she also began exhibiting her work. The quilts on display in the Commons Gallery represent the various stages in her development as an artist. Ellin Larimer’s quilts have been exhibited nationally for the past decade.
Ellin will be on hand at the City Hall gallery on Wednesday, January 19, 2011 from 2-3pm to conduct a lecture and “walk-and-talk” through the exhibit, answering questions and discussing her work. This event is free and open to the public. Ellin Larimer’s website can be found at www.ellinlarimer.com
